How many candidates do I have to vote for and how to vote for?

The Poll is being held to elect twelve (12) Councillors and a Mayor. This means that you will have to vote for at least four (4) candidates for the position of Councillor to have a valid vote; this is because there are three (3) wards with four Councillors to be elected in each ward. In our City the mayor is elected by the people and not the Councillors to make a valid vote you must place the number (1) in the square in front of at least one (1) person on the ballot paper.

You may extend your preference past either the No.1 vote for Mayor or the fourth (4) preference vote for Councillor, at your discretion by placing the number (2) (3) etc in front of the name of your next preferred candidates for the position of Mayor or the number (5) (6) etc in the case of Councillor.

Above the line voting,

You may vote above the by placing a number (1) in the square located above the group where candidates have a group of 4 or more in a column below the line. When you are voting above the line the preferences run strait down the group from the top to the bottom you may extend your preference by placing the number (2) (3) etc in other squares above the line above the line
