As an Aboriginal Elder and CEO of the Nowra Land Council it is my pleasure to support our Mayor Greg Watson for re-election for another term.
Greg Watson has been an outstanding Mayor and he has done more than any of his predecessors to support our people, both through his advocacy of restorative justice by supporting the majority of our land claims and his sincere attempt to bring our people together as one.
I have never forgotten it was Greg who led the Bridge walk, a symbolic walk to bring all Australians together.
In more recent times Greg strongly supported Kevin Rudd's apology on behalf of the Australian people for the injustices of the past and he organised a telecast of the occasion in the Council Chambers to give those of us who could not attend the event in Canberra the opportunity of being part of the historic occasion.
Greg's door is always open to anyone who needs assistance, he is a really great Mayor and our City needs his strong compassionate Leadership.

Emeritus Mayor Alex Darling AM
Former Mayor of Shoalhaven and Lord Mayor of Wollongong has his say:
Greg Watson is an outstanding Mayor and Leader who has achieved really great things for you.” …“Greg Watson has well and truly earned another period as Mayor of the Shoalhaven”....

Alex Darling former Mayor of Shoalhaven and Wollongong Councils

Sometimes we can take our leaders for granted, but I can assure you that Greg Watson is an outstanding Mayor and Leader who has achieved really great things for you. If you need further proof of this just look at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre which was a personal initiative of Greg's, the fact that Shoalhaven has the most reliable Water Supply in the State (arraignments negotiated by Greg), the magnificent Leisure Centres at Ulladulla, Sussex Inlet, Vincentia and Bomaderry, all of which Greg had an involvement in. The modern sewerage schemes that have been constructed and the magnificent environmental initiative through the extensive reuse of waste water on farms and parks; this is another personal initiative of his. The road construction that has occurred, Main Road 92, Forrest Rd and the playing fields Parks cycleways and the multitude of other construction projects across the all of Shoalhaven. I really urge you to look beyond the politically motivated print media rhetoric and to adopt an old advertising slogan, “when you're on a good thing stick to it” give Greg your number  1 vote.
Greg Watson has well and truly earned another period as Mayor of the Shoalhaven

“..Greg worked with Ray to make our University a reality and he is now working to make Ray’s dream of a establishment of a Linear  Accelerator in Shoalhaven for cancer treatment come true...”
Ross Wesley OAM
Chairman of the Thompson Street Sporting Complex
Has His Say

...“We should never forget how Greg used his casting vote as Mayor to save our Swimming Pool from being abandoned when the vote was deadlocked at a Council Meeting just last year”.

I have never forgotten when we were developing the Sporting Complex how Greg Watson donated his own money to buy fuel to keep the earth moving equipment operating. Our Sporting Complex is now one of the best in our City area. Any time I have needed assistance from Council in any of my community endeavors Greg has always been prepared to help.

We should never forget how Greg used his casting vote as Mayor to save our Swimming Pool from being abandoned when the vote was deadlocked at a Council Meeting last year.

I want you all to know that Greg has never been a Ward Councillor for this area how ever he has been one our greatest supporters and champions.

Greg Watson has well and truly earned our support.

Norm Clark Comments on Council\

…“Greg Watson listens to the needs of all residents”
…“This not a job for a newcomer”

I write in support of Clr Greg Watson's intention to stand for another term as mayor of the Shoalhaven.

1 have had a working relationship for many years with Greg through my involvement with the Sussex inlet swimming Pool Fundraising Organisation Inc. in the fund raising and planning for the Sussex Inlet Aquatic Centre to be officially Opened in March, 2004.

Relations with some of the Shoalhaven City Council staff and Councillors had been far from easy for many years until we gained the support of the Mayor. He has, during his time in office, come to see that the population of Sussex Inlet, through its strong and continuing support of the fundraising really wanted a Pool and was prepared to put its money where its mouth was. Accordingly he gave us his very valuable support and we are about to see the result of this support.

During the long years of working to raise funds and get the pool on its way, along with a large number of our fundraising group, attended many Council meetings We were left astonished by the varied and strange matters that were aired in that chamber, at great length and not always in a very coherent manner, The patience of the Mayor in listening and dealing with these matters was very revealing.

I have been working in the community in voluntary work for over 50 years both with Service Clubs and other organisations mostly in executive positions.

I have seen enough over these years to know that the leader of a very large business such as the Shoalhaven Council must have a thorough grounding in the basics of a Council, ability to listen to the needs of all ratepayers and enough wisdom and commonsense to see that as many of the population's expressed needs are attended to as possible. This is not a job for a newcomer. It is an important position whose duties affect the lives of many.

I believe that Mayor Greg Watson has these attributes and am happy to support him in his desire to serve another term.

Norm Clark.

Franz Mairinger tells it how he sees it

…“His leadership skills, tough decision making and approachable manner are second to none”.
…“For the Shoalhaven to keep moving ahead, Greg Watson has to be given the opportunity to continue working for us as a Councillor and Mayor”

"Greg Watson knows how to make things happen"
How can I make such a statement? easy, I have been associated with Greg Watson for some 30 years and have been a resident of Kangaroo Valley since 1966.
Let me give you just one example.
Kangaroo Valley would not have the Show ground as we all know it today, but for the under standing and foresight of Greg Watson.
The five acres that is now part of the Show ground is there because of Greg Watson's unrelenting dedication.
My involvement in the Community has given me the opportunity not only to work with Greg but also to watch and see him work.
His leadership skills, tough decision making and approachable manner are second to none.
For the Shoalhaven to keep moving ahead, Greg Watson has to be given the opportunity to continue working for us as a Councillor and Mayor of Shoalhaven City Council.
Former General Manager of Shoalhaven City Council (18 years)Graham Napper Speaks Out;

...“To be effective as Mayor, practical experience is an extremely important factor.” ...“Greg Watson is able to make things happen,”

Greg Watson is able to make things happen, because of his vast experience, and up to date knowledge of the complex framework that councils work within. As a Councillor and full time Mayor he has devoted enormous amounts of time and energy to the civic office, the community, and in assisting any persons where possible.
Greg Watson has a demonstrated and proven track record. To be effective as Mayor, practical experience is an extremely important factor.
