Shoalhaven city Council backflip over Employment Committee pleases Councillor Greg Watson

Councillor Greg Watson said he was pleased that Mayor Paul Green had listened to his calls for Council to reconstitute and Employment Committee.

Councillor Greg Watson said that the Industrial Development Employment Committee had been reformed albeit with a name change.  Commenting on the move Councillor Watson said that this was in reality, the biggest backflip of all time, but I backflip he welcomed.

Council Greg Watson said that both he and the other members of the Shoalhaven Independents have been agitating for some time to have an employment committee reconstituted following its axing on the motion by councillor Gareth Ward at the first meeting of the new Shoalhaven City Council.

In a Mayoral Minute Council of Green recommended that a committee to be called the Industrial development Advisory Committee be formed, the irony was that the membership and the objectives were essentially identical to the I D E Committee dumped just two weeks before.

Councillor Greg Watson said he would be continuing to put pressure on Council to recognise the areas of high level of unemployment and would be continuing to push for projects like the Shaolin Temple as well as projects like the Marina, and a four star hotel development in Nowra.
