Shoalhaven's Park Ducks Saved from the Axe.
Councillor Greg Watson, told his colleagues at a recent Council Meeting that the City's Park ducks should stay.
Council Watson successfully moved at the last meeting of Shoalhaven City Council that the City's Park ducks be allowed to remain in park ponds throughout the city. 
Speaking in support of the motion Council Watson said that the Park ducks added to the ambience of the parks with many young people and the elderly alike getting hours of enjoyment out of feeding the ducks.
The issue came up during a debate on a report from Council staff which recommended that the banning of all domestic ducks from the city parks.  The report also recommended the removal of all existing domestic ducks.

Council Watson  commenting on the matter further said that the in the past and even the culling of excessive numbers of ducks had cause severe community distress.

Council Watson told his colleagues that former City Mayor Harry Sawkins have even had a duck crossing painted on Graham Street to facilitate a safe location for the ducks in Harry Sawkins Park.

The motion to save the City's ducks was carried unanimously.
